Tri-D FacsRite HP is an engineered enhancement to Tri-D FacsRite for High Pressure Applications.

The enhanced disc retention design ensures a robust screen that resists load force deformation or damage encountered during deployment and operation in modern extended reach laterals. The filter discs are made from Tri-D Weave™, a unique and recent advancement in Premium screen media that has superior initial and retained permeability compared to conventional Premium screen designs.

Filter Media Elements are Secured with High Pressure Disc Retention Rings

Tri-D FacsRite HP is distinguished from Tri-D FacsRite by the addition of factory applied disc retention rings to increase the burst pressure rating of the filter media from 1500 PSI to 3000 PSI. Tri-D FacsRite HP discs are flush mounted and secured directly into the base pipe. The unique disc insertion design and retention ring construction allows the burst strength rating increase with increased temperature making the screen ideal for thermal applications.

The Challenge

Drilling longer laterals saves millions in reservoir development costs but the extended length raises concerns. Operators want to be sure the screens used for sand control can be deployed to target depth without distortion. Any damage to the filter media could degrade the effectiveness of the screen in controlling sand and sand entering the wellbore can result in costly remediation or even catastrophic well failure.

The Solution

Made with Tri-D Weave media, Tri-D FacsRite HP is a robust screen suitable for use in wells where severe deployment and operating loads may be encountered, and in wells with high operating pressures and temperatures.

This full bore screen delivers high permeability in the critical near wellbore area and a low pressure drop across the screen, thereby enhancing well productivity. High permeability and high plugging resistance are the two critical factors in controlling sand without impeding flow.

The high burst pressure rating of Tri-D FacsRite HP allows operations that are not possible with conventional slotted liner, wire wrap and premium screens.

  • Over the life of the well, the high pressure rating ensures sufficiently high screen integrity to allow for high pressure well remediation and stimulation treatments
  • In combination with Absolute’s proprietary process, the high pressure rating allows the screen to be circulated in and for the setting or activation of completion tools such as hydraulic packers.

Tri-D FacsRite HP screens can be customized to reservoir potential and cost by selecting disc size and disc density, as well as the metallurgy used in both the discs and the base pipe.

Why Do You Use 434 Stainless Instead Of 304SS For High Temperature Applications?

Performance

Tri-D FacsRite HP resists deformation and screen damage and has an open flow area almost double that of typical slotted liner. Even higher open flow area is feasible whereas increasing the number of slots would significantly weaken slotted liner. Absolute routinely delivers Tri-D FacsRite HP and Tri-D FacsRite screens with 8% or higher open flow area to customers worldwide.

Tri-D FacsRite HP Applications

  • An alternative to slotted liner where a large screen ID to OD ratio is desirable
  • High-pressure, high-temperature, and moderately corrosive environments
  • Horizontal, deviated or vertical wells in unconsolidated reservoirs

Thermal Applications

  • High-temperature water injection wells
  • Horizontal and vertical Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) wells
  • Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) wells
  • Vertical or horizontal gravel-pack or frac-packs
  • Coal bed methane production
  • Under-pressured and depleted wells

Benefits

Higher Productivity

  • Greater OFA (0-23% of base pipe) than wire wrap or slotted liner
  • Maximum retained permeability yields minimum pressure drop, thus higher productivity
  • Extend well life with superior sand, erosion, corrosion resistance

Versatile Completion Geometries

  • Large ID/OD ratios for flexibility in well design and for applications where the liner OD is a critical factor
  • No construction outside of the base pipe
  • Larger operating windows are possible based on wider application stress limits

Tri-D FacsRite HP Options Available

Tri-D FacsRite HP discs are available in fine, medium and coarse weaves and these filter elements can be installed in client supplied base pipe if desired.

The screens can be tailored to the formation production capability, open flow area, completion cost, base pipe, disc size and disc distribution density:

  • 3/4 inch (190.5 mm) diameter discs
  • 1 inch (254 mm) diameter discs

Tri-D FacsRite HP discs and pipe can be built for the harshness of the reservoir conditions by selecting the appropriate materials:

  • Standard corrosion resistant 316L Stainless Steel
  • Corrosion resistant alloys such as Hastelloy™, or Inconel™ A20 or A625
