ExTract is a liner hook up system that is adaptable to any length of tie back and is the recommended setting tool for Absolute’s SuperSet – A Heavy Duty Liner Hanger Packer System. It is designed for vigorous push, pull, drill down, and drill-in operations required in working moderate to heavy liners to bottom.

  • Design clearances avoid sticking and/or miss runs in high solids applications such as sand control, gravel packs, frac packs, or fracture liners
  • Rugged, high torque spline connections for running with drill pipe strings in high torque liner drill-down and liner drilling applications

Setting ExTract

The ExTrack setting tool is operated by an hydraulic pressure differential created by a circulated ball that is pumped to a seat in the running head. The ball creates a seal that results in differential pressure acting upon an internal piston in the strainer ring assembly. A substantial pressure across the piston shears the external sleeve of the strainer ring assembly and applies downward force onto the tie-back receptacle of the liner hanger. Meanwhile, the liner hanger’s inner mandrel is held securely in place by the running head’s snap in running teeth.

The complete range of motion of the strainer ring assembly’s hydraulic piston activates the SafeSlip™ System used Superset Liner Hangers, to effectively set the liner hanger to the desired depth. Any excessive setting force is safely absorbed by Superset’s innovative setting mechanisms.

Releasing ExTract

Over pressuring the running head releases the ExTrack setting tool from a seal and/or liner hanger. The resulting differential across the ball in seat causes a small internal sleeve to shear into a downward by-pass configuration. The resulting loss of pressure positively indicates that the release mechanism is in the correct position.

A slight (2 cm) downward movement of the running tool releases the clutch mechanism and locks the running teeth into an unset position. The ExTrack is then freed for removal from the well.<,/p>

In the locked unset position, a right-hand rotation serves as a mechanical emergency release.

ExTract, a reliable hanger set and release tool, is designed for heavy duty liner hanger packer systems and delivers the following advantages:

  • Design clearances avoid sticking or miss runs in high solids applications such as sand control, gravel packs, frac packs or fracture liners
  • Rugged, high torque spline connections are designed for running with drill pipe strings in high torque liner drill-down and liner drilling applications
