Why is Retained Permeability Important in Sand Control? | Absolute Completion Technologies

Retained permeability is the Critical Factor for Long Term Screen Performance. The retained permeability of a sand control system is a measure of how freely fluids can move through the near wellbore sand-screen interface. The first chart below shows the performance of an ‘ideal’ sand pack with no screen.

The second chart shows the performance of various screen media. Standard test coupons for each screen type were tested against a variety  of sands of different sizes and uniformity. The results show the retained permeability of the sand pack immediately  adjacent to the screens. Learn More
