A continuous two dimensional slot is formed by continuously wrapping wire over longitudinal metal ribs and spot welding. The permeable wire wrap structure is mounted over perforated base pipe to create a permeable medium through which hydrocarbon and water can flow. Sand is retained at the sand-screen interface provided the formation sands are uniform and the slot width has been accurately sized to allow sand particles to form stable arches across the slots. Developed in the early 1900’s, this technology gave an improvement in open flow area compared to slotted liner. It is still used in reservoirs with well sampled, uniform sands known to have consistent particle sizes and shapes across the length of the well. It was also traditionally used as the support structure for gravel packing.Contact Us For Detailed Specifications »
